Glass beads tie dye
Glass beads tie dye is a new form of tie dye that uses glass beads instead of plastic ones. It’s a great alternative to other methods, such as traditional fabric or paper.
Invented by the creators of this site, glass bead tie dye is a fast and easy way to make your clothes look unique. The process involves using rubber bands and bleach to create a pattern on an old t-shirt or other article of clothing. Then, you can wear the shirt!
If you want something different from your current wardrobe but don’t know where to start (or if you’re just looking for a fun project), try making some shirts using glass bead tie dye!
Materials

- Glass beads in various colors (see our recommendations below)
- A few different containers for the dye bath, like mason jars, plastic tubs or baking pans. We recommend using rubber gloves to protect your hands from chemicals and soapy water when handling glass beads!
- Plastic wrap for covering bowls or jars that are not airtight; any kind of non-metal material will do here, but use something that won’t dissolve into your dye bath! You’ll also need several large towels or tarpaulins on hand – these will be used as surface protection while tying fabric onto glass beads. A big tub works well too! Ironed fabric pieces can be placed directly onto these surfaces without needing additional tying materials like string or yarn.

Cloth
Next, you’ll need a piece of cloth to tie and dye. We recommend choosing cotton cloth because it will be easier to dye. You can use any material you like, but keep in mind that the finished product will be different depending on what you use. For example, silk is very slippery and difficult to tie while wool and polyester are much more resistant to dye.
If you don’t have any old clothes lying around that would fit this purpose well enough then we recommend going out and buying some inexpensive long underwear at your local store (you can buy them online as well). These are great because they’re made with 100% cotton so they’ll work perfectly for this tutorial!

You can choose cotton cloth. We are using a long underwear. The color of your cloth is very important, because it will reflect the colors of your beads. You should choose a color that will look good with the colors of the beads you choose to use. For example, if you have dark colored beads (like black) then you might want to go with light colors in order to make those colors pop out more against their background color (i.e., use white or gray).
Rubber bands or strings

You can use rubber bands or strings to tie around the cloth to create different patterns. Use your imagination and have fun!

For the second method, use a string to tie the cloth. First, put one end of a string through one side of the cloth, then pass it around and pull out from under it. After that, pass it through again but this time on another side of the cloth before pulling out from under it again. Keep doing this until you reach the edge where you started; there should be two strings at each end. Then take two glass beads and add them between each pair of strings to hold them in place while tying them together with rubber band or ribbon for an even look!
