Why Do We Need to Rewire our Brains? Because we Must

The first step to rewiring your brain is simply understanding why it is a good idea. The second step is accepting the fact that no matter how hard you try, you cannot change the past, but you can always create a better future.

As humans, we have an innate ability to learn and change with time. This means that if we keep doing things over and over again, eventually they become habits or even permanent traits which shape us as individuals. When thinking about rewiring our brains this becomes even more important because there are certain parts of our behavior that we can identify as negative or harmful for ourselves and those around us.

To rewire these negative behaviors it helps to start by identifying them and then creating new habits which will replace them instead. One way of accomplishing this is through meditation or deep breathing exercises which allow us time away from our busy lives so we can think about what needs changing in order improve ourselves mentally on both short term (reducing stress) and long term (becoming more positive).

It is important to find a mentor or accountability partner.

In order to rewire your brain, you will need help from others. You can’t do it on your own.

The first step is finding a mentor and an accountability partner. The mentor should be someone who inspires you and has qualities that you want to emulate, whereas the accountability partner should be someone who will hold you accountable for any negative behaviors or thoughts that might creep up during the rewiring process.

It can be difficult to find people like this; however, if done right—and with intention—it can change your life in many positive ways!

A good way to start is by asking around at work or school if anyone knows of anyone who fits these descriptions well enough where they would volunteer their time with someone who needs it most (like yourself). It also helps if they’re trustworthy enough so as not leak any information about what goes on between sessions when talking with others outside of those sessions themselves so everyone feels comfortable sharing openly without worrying about someone else finding out about their secrets (which could lead back towards anxiety).

You must try new things and switch up your daily routine.

  • You must try new things and switch up your daily routine.
  • Your brain has the ability to think new thoughts.
  • Your mind is a muscle that can be trained and strengthened with practice, just like any other muscle in your body.
  • Try new things! Try new foods, try new restaurants, try new exercise routines; change your daily commute route; do something different each day.

Develop New Habits with Meditation

Meditation is a proven technique that helps you reduce stress, anxiety, depression and anger. It also can help with PTSD symptoms like flashbacks or nightmares. Meditation has been shown to lower blood pressure and even improve cardiovascular health.

Meditation also improves self-awareness by teaching you to become more aware of what’s going on in your mind and body during the day. For example: When was the last time you noticed how your breathing felt? Or how many times did you check your phone today? The goal of meditation is not necessarily to get rid of thoughts but rather simply acknowledge them so they don’t take over by defaulting us into autopilot mode where we are just reacting to everything around us. This can be especially helpful when it comes time for decision-making or working through difficult situations in life; Instead of being overwhelmed by all the options available at once (all those options often being distractions), being able to look at things from multiple angles will give us clarity about what direction makes sense for our situation at hand.”

Seek out positive people for support and encouragement.

Seek out positive people for support and encouragement.

If you want to change your life, it’s vital that you have people around you who will support and encourage you in your journey. You need to be able to rely on other people for honest feedback about your behavior, thoughts, feelings and choices. That’s why it’s so important to seek out positive relationships with friends who can help hold you accountable when the going gets tough.

It’s also vital that these relationships are built on trust because otherwise they won’t be effective at helping anyone improve their lives in any meaningful way!

Surround yourself by affirmations.

A lot of us know that we need to meditate and breathe deeply, but the idea of it is so intimidating. Maybe you think you’ll have to sit in a corner for 30 minutes without a book or your phone, or maybe you’re worried about getting into your own headspace.

Here’s some ways to make sure your meditation practice doesn’t feel like this:

  • Surround yourself by affirmations. I find mantras helpful because they keep my mind focused on positive thoughts when I start thinking about all the things I need to do throughout my day (and sometimes nights). They also help me remember why it’s important for me to do this in the first place—to be more productive at work and happier in life overall. Here are some examples: “I am capable of greatness”; “I am happy with myself as an individual”; “I am grateful for all that I have”.* Find positive quotes that inspire you.* Look up motivational videos on YouTube (or elsewhere) if there are any content creators whose words move you.* Read motivational books like The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey.* Spend time with people who encourage and uplift others around them—they’ll bring joy into their lives without even knowing it!
