The Planning Authority approved the application for the construction of a 10-storey residential complex with 100 apartments. The development will be located on a 1.5-hectare plot of land, which is currently used for agricultural purposes. The project, which is being developed by a local company, aims to provide affordable housing for Maltese citizens. The company has pledged to contribute to the development of the site through the provision of public amenities and infrastructure.

The site is located in the heart of the city, at the intersection of three main roads: Triq Fra Gammari Zammit, Triq Zaccaria Roncali, and Triq Lu Luca Zurki.

This recommendation was made based on the case officer’s assessment of the site’s potential for archaeological significance. The case officer’s report also highlighted the potential for archaeological discoveries in the proposed development area. The report stated that the site has a high probability of containing archaeological remains, including artifacts and structures, dating back to the 19th century.

He also mentioned that he plans to build a community center and a library. This is a significant development as it signifies a commitment to creating a vibrant and inclusive community. The community center will provide a space for residents to gather, socialize, and participate in various activities. The library will offer access to books, resources, and educational opportunities, fostering a love of learning and intellectual growth.
