Simple is best
The first thing you need to know is that weight loss isn’t a one-way street. You have to commit yourself 100% or you will not succeed. This means eating less, eating better and exercising more. You can do it!
Nothing stops you if you really want something bad enough.
I had to get my wardrobe together and change my lifestyle to fit in with the new job. I didn’t want to be unhealthy anymore, so I started working out and eating better. At first it was challenging, but as time went on, it became easier and easier. Now I feel like a completely different person than before!
It’s just that I don’t like being unhealthy.
Living a healthier lifestyle will make you feel better, look better and live longer. You’ll be able to do more with your life. And if you’re looking for an extra incentive to lose weight, consider the fact that being overweight can lead to serious health issues like heart disease and diabetes.
You might be thinking: “Why bother losing weight if I’m already healthy?” It’s true that you may currently have no health conditions whatsoever—but what about 10 years from now? Do you want to be as healthy at 65 as you were at 50? Or would it be easier on your joints if they were lighter?
Losing just 10 pounds can improve your blood pressure by five points; losing 50 pounds (the average weight loss of our waist-beaders) can reduce blood pressure by nearly 10 points! This translates into fewer visits to the doctor, less medication needed and reduced risk of stroke or kidney failure later in life.
There were two particular things that surprised me, though.
One of the things that surprised me was just how long it took. I didn’t expect to lose the weight so slowly, but I lost about five pounds per month for three months before it started accelerating and I was losing about 10 pounds a month for the last few months.
Another thing that surprised me is how much weight I lost relative to my starting weight. When I started out, I weighed 300 pounds, so losing 50 pounds (half) was a pretty big deal!
I had no idea how long it would take.
It took me about five years to lose the weight.
I spent about two hours a day exercising and about three hours planning meals, cooking, and researching healthy living.
And sometimes I didn’t even notice that I was doing something to lose weight until several weeks later when I’d catch a glimpse of my reflection or get on the scale, and then I’d realize that I was actually making progress.
If you’re in the process of losing weight, I hope that these answers will help you understand what it’s like. If you’ve lost weight and are looking to maintain your healthy body, I hope that these experiences will inspire you to keep up your good work!
You won’t notice you’re doing something for yourself when you’re out walking in the park, or telling your coworker about your healthy lifestyle goal, or passing on dessert after lunch, but suddenly you’ll have lost those 50 lbs., and you don’t know how it happened at first because it seemed like it happened overnight.
If you want to lose 50 lbs., you have to be willing to take a risk. You can’t be afraid of failure. You need to set goals for yourself and stick with them, even if it’s not easy at first. If you make a mistake, don’t let that discourage you from continuing on your journey! Get back up again and try again until the desired results are achieved.
You need to find motivation within yourself in order for everything else in this process (weight loss) to fall into place as well. For example: Do something nice for yourself today because of all the hard work that went into getting where you are right now! Celebrate each success along the way by rewarding yourself with something healthy like an outdoor walk or some time spent with friends doing something fun instead of eating unhealthy foods all day long every single day just because they’re there–which means nothing good will come out of this situation whatsoever (unless we follow through).
But your hard work has paid off (literally and figuratively), and now it’s time to buy some new clothes!
Congrats! You did it. You’re not just lighter, but also happier. Now that you’ve reached your target weight, it’s time to reward yourself by buying some new clothes—and if they don’t fit right now, that’s okay because you’ll be losing more weight soon enough. But don’t go overboard: clothes are a great way to celebrate your success, but they can also become an excuse for falling off track if you buy too many things at once (and then never wear them).
Instead of buying anything in particular (like skinny jeans or a new dress), consider treating yourself with things like:
- A new pair of workout shoes
- A personal trainer membership at the gym
- A few sessions with a nutritionist
If you set your mind to it, you can achieve anything.
If you set your mind to it, you can achieve anything. It’s true! You can do anything if you just believe in yourself.
So many people have lost weight by using waist beads and have kept the weight off. They’ve done it by believing in themselves, and I know that if I had believed in myself more, too, I would have lost more weight and kept it off longer.
It’s so important to believe in yourself—that way, when things get tough or things don’t go as planned for whatever reason (and there are always reasons!), you’ll still be able to stay on track because ultimately you know that your goals are worth fighting for. Believe in yourself, and anything is possible!
