Use your prayer mantra every time you pray.
Your prayer mantra can be a powerful tool to help you focus on what you are doing, instead of what you are thinking. This will help keep your mind focused on the task at hand—praying to God—and not distracted by thoughts like “What if this doesn’t work?” or “Am I saying this right?”
You may find that using a prayer mantra makes it easier for you to pray with confidence, especially when beginning your conversations with God. It’s also helpful in reminding us that our prayers are heard by God and answered as He sees fit. We don’t need to know how or when He answers because we have faith that He does answer them!
Say your prayer mantra while meditating.
While you’re meditating, say your prayer mantra out loud. It’s important to stay focused on your breath so that you don’t get distracted by thoughts of what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow. Focus instead on how the sound of your own voice is helping keep you present in the moment. If there are distractions—like a burst pipe in your home—you can use this time to practice patience and gratitude for being able to practice sitting still with these things going on around you. You should find a pace for saying your prayer mantra that works for you; it doesn’t have to be perfect or even slow down each word as much as possible (although some people do). The most important thing is finding a comfortable pace where it feels natural and easy for you to pronounce each syllable clearly without rushing through them like they’re far away from one another as if they have never met before!
When I was learning about mantras, I was taught that the best mantra for anyone who’s just starting out would be something short like “Om” because it has lots of syllables but isn’t too long either; this helps us stay focused when we start saying it over again later on down the road once our practice becomes more advanced.”
Make your prayer mantra a visualization.
In your mind, visualize your mantra being said. Feel it in your body, and then see and hear it coming from all around you. See the person who is praying say it out loud and then feel it enter into you, filling up every part of your body with a peaceful energy that makes you feel calm inside. Repeat this process until you can’t think of anything else but the mantra itself and how wonderful it feels to have such a clear focus on something so positive when everything else seems so chaotic in our world today.
Make your prayer mantra an active part of your life.
Regularly saying your mantra is not enough, though. You also have to think about your mantra and visualize it every day. Writing it out can help you do this—write it on a note in your phone, or put it on your wall. If possible, make time for regular meditation so that you can get more in touch with what’s going on inside of yourself, which will help you connect with the universal energy behind your prayer mantra. Finally, find ways to incorporate the idea of gratitude into every aspect of your daily life; be grateful that you are able to recite this prayer every day; be grateful when someone treats you well; say thank you!
A good prayer mantra can direct your practice in subtle but important ways.
A mantra is a word, phrase, or prayer that you repeat to yourself in order to focus your mind. While mantras can be used for a variety of purposes in the spiritual practice—chanting aloud during meditation sessions or reciting silently while going about your day—the most common use is as part of a devotional practice (like prayer).
- A good mantra can direct your practice in subtle but important ways. While repeating a mantra like “om” might seem like just another way to keep quiet and still before God, it actually plays an essential role in helping you set aside the thoughts that are distracting you from His presence and instead focus on Him alone. You may also find that when you meditate on one aspect of His nature (such as love), this will have its own associated benefits: if He loves us unconditionally despite our faults then perhaps we should learn to do so ourselves?
