Nourish Your Skin.
- Use a good moisturizer.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid harsh cleansers, and use products designed specifically for your skin type (dry, oily, etc.).
- Protect your skin from the wind by wearing hats or scarves while outdoors in cold weather; they’ll keep you warm whether you’re wearing them on your hair or face!
Wear Sunscreen.
When you’re out in the cold, it’s easy to forget that you need sunscreen just as much in winter. While the sun is less intense during these months, UV rays are still strong enough to cause sunburn and skin damage. And since there’s no beachside tanning option available at this time of year, you have to protect yourself from head-to-toe!
If you are planning on being outdoors for a long period of time or if your job requires you to be outside for extended periods (e.g., landscapers), it may be worth investing in SPF 30+ sunscreen instead of just SPF 15+.
A good rule of thumb is to apply 1 ounce (that’s about two tablespoons) of sunscreen every two hours while spending time outside during daylight hours—even if it’s cloudy! Since most people don’t wear an entire bottle per day, they end up using too little sunscreen which leads them unprotected against harmful rays when they really need it most (i.e., right before heading back inside).
Invest in a humidifier.
Dry air can wreak havoc on your skin and cause irritation that leads to chapped lips, cracked hands and even eczema and other skin conditions. A humidifier is a great way to combat this problem. Not only does it keep your home more comfortable year-round, but it also helps you sleep better at night. If you’re interested in purchasing one, there are plenty of options available on Amazon or through retailers like Target!
Deep Condition Your Hair.
When the weather outside is frightful, it’s important to remember that you still have to take care of your skin. This means moisturizing and wearing sunscreen every day, but it also includes taking extra care of your hair.
The best way to do this is by deep conditioning your hair once a week (or even more often, depending on how dry it gets). To do so:
- Wash your hair with shampoo as normal.
- Once your hair is damp (not wet), apply a deep conditioning mask all over your scalp and length of hair (avoiding areas around the face/ears). Leave it in for 10-20 minutes while you get ready or read a book!
- Rinse out with warm water until there’s no more visible product left in your strands; don’t scrub or rub too hard during this step—you don’t want to damage those precious follicles! You may need shampoo again since some residue will inevitably remain on there after rinsing away all traces from previous days’ application(s).
Boost your immune system
To keep your immune system strong this winter, you should:
- Stay hydrated.
- Eat your greens (and garlic and ginger). In fact, try eating more citrus fruits too! All of these foods help boost the immune system.
- Exercise regularly—even if it’s just a 20-minute walk outside every day! This will help regulate everything from your metabolism to stress levels and ultimately boost immunity.
- Get enough sleep for yourself—everyone is different when it comes to how much sleep we need in order to function well and stay healthy, but everyone should aim for 7-9 hours per night during cold months when one may be exposed to sick people more often than usual.
- Meditate or do some other form of relaxation activity that works best for you on a daily basis so that you don’t get stressed out by all of the things around you while also keeping calm enough not to spread whatever germs might be floating around out there from one person’s body into another person’s body via coughing/sneezing/etcetera (this is especially important if someone has already gotten sick).
Use hand cream
Hand cream is a great way to keep your hands looking nice. There are a lot of different options for hand cream, including petroleum jelly and lotion. The most important thing is to moisturize your hands daily and protect them from the cold. Hand lotion is also a great way to protect your skin from the cold, so pick up some today!
Moisturize.
- Moisturize. This is a crucial step to taking care of your skin, no matter the season. Use a gentle cleanser to cleanse your face and body, then apply moisturizer while skin is still damp. If you’re using a thicker cream or oil-based formula, apply it at night for best results. And avoid hot water as much as possible: hot showers and baths can be drying for your skin by stripping away natural oils, which helps explain why we need all this moisturizing in the first place!
Check your water temperature.
As the winter months approach and the weather gets colder, it’s important to know how to keep your skin, hair and body feeling their best. One of the biggest mistakes people make is not considering water temperature. Cold or hot water can cause some serious damage if you’re not careful about using it. While lukewarm water may seem like an odd choice for cleaning yourself, or even for drinking coffee in the morning, it’s actually great for keeping your skin healthy and moisturized throughout the cold season. Let’s take a look at why this is so important:
- Warm Water Is Best For Bathing: When you’re showering or taking a bath in warm water, your pores get opened up as they relax from being closed off from dry air outside. This allows moisture from inside your body (such as sweat) to escape more easily while also allowing other essential nutrients into them like vitamins A & E which help fight off bacteria that could lead to infection if left untreated!
- Cold Water Is Best For Drinking: If iced tea isn’t enough then try drinking ice-cold milk instead! The way our bodies react internally makes sense when we think about what happens when we drink something very cold right after eating something warm
Protect Yourself from the Elements.
When the weather outside is cold, it’s important to take care of yourself. The elements are harsh and can cause a lot of damage to your skin if you’re not careful. That’s why it’s essential that you protect yourself from the cold as much as possible. Here are some suggestions:
- Wear a hat
- Wear a scarf
- Wear gloves (Not just in the winter but year round!)
If these tips aren’t enough, here are some more ideas on how to stay warm during the winter months:
- Go for walks or runs in the fresh air – this helps keep your body temperature up!
Winter care can be just as important as summer care!
Winter care can be just as important as summer care!
Here’s a list of some things you can do to protect your skin during the colder months:
- Use lotions with SPF on the face. The sun is still out and it’ll reflect on your face in the winter, so make sure to put lotion with SPF on it (as well as other exposed parts of your body).
- Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin nice and healthy-looking. You may want to invest in a reusable water bottle so that you always have something nearby when you need it! And don’t forget about hot drinks like tea or coffee; even though they aren’t technically considered “water” they’re still good for staying hydrated! Yummy tea lattes are especially great if you want something warm but not too heavy on its own without adding milk or sugar.”
