String the beads onto the string.
- Thread your needle and tie a knot at the end of your string. If you’re using embroidery floss for this project, it’s important to tie a knot so that you don’t lose any beads while sewing them on!
- String your beads onto the string in the order that you want them to appear on the bracelet (this is up to you!). I’ve chosen orange, yellow, green and blue for mine but feel free to choose whatever colors speak to your soul! If there are multiple strands of beads on each side of the bracelet (like mine), make sure they alternate back and forth as well so they look pretty when finished!
- Tie another knot after every few inches or so if necessary – just enough so they stay put without slipping off when worn by someone else ๐ This can also help keep track better too since sometimes it gets messy with all those little guys going everywhere… like kids at Christmas time ๐ So tying another knot helps keep everything straight – kind of like hanging up clothes after drying them off outside… just joking around here folks! But seriously though – this step really does help keep things neat & tidy ๐
Tie the ends of your string together.
- Tie the ends of your string together.
- The knot should have a small loop in it. The loop should be big enough for a needle to fit through, but small enough so that the beads don’t fall off.
Pull the beadwork over your wrist to see if it fits.
You can also try pulling the beadwork over your wrist to see if it fits. If it’s too loose, remove the string from your wrist and trim it so that there is just enough room for a bead to fit through each knot (you don’t want too much slack). If you’re making a bracelet for someone else, make sure that you leave yourself enough extra string to tie off at the end of your project.
If your bracelet is too tight, remove it from your wrist and untie the two knots you just tied by pulling them apart along their entire length until they separate completely. Then tie another double knot using those same two ends of string in exactly the same way as before: pass one end under both strands of string next to where they are tied together; then bring this end over itself toward its other side; pull on both ends so that they form an X shape across each other; repeat with another knot on top of this one until both pieces come together–and voila! You’ve got yourself a beautiful new beaded bracelet!
Trim the string if necessary.
Now it’s time to trim the excess string. Use sharp scissors to make sure you get a clean cut and in one swift motion, trim off the excess string. The goal is to cut it so that it’s about half an inch from the knot for a nice, neat appearance. Don’t pull on or stretch out your bracelet as you’re cutting because this will cause distortion in your beading work!
Tie two more knots.

If it doesn’t fit, you can always start over. But if you love it, you can use the same technique to make a necklace. Or sell your bracelets on Etsy and get paid for your creativity! That’s pretty cool too!
