Here’s how to put on friendship bracelets.

Step 1: Separate the strands

To start, separate the strands and tie them in a star pattern. You should have 6 strands, which you can group into 3 pairs. Next, tie a knot at the top of all 6 strands (so it looks like a loop). Then separate those 3 sections into 2 and 1 sections again; use these smaller sections to weave your friendship bracelets.

Step 2: Tie the knot

Now you’re going to take the other end of your string and tie it onto your first knot. Hold on tight! Make sure that the two knots are tight together so they don’t come undone later on.

When you’ve finished tying both ends, you should have one big knot in the middle of your friendship bracelet. You can loosen it up a bit by pulling down on either side; this will make it easier for people to put their hands through (which is why we made sure there was extra room in this section).

Step 3: Start braiding!

Now that you know how to make the bracelet, it’s time to actually put it on! To do this, you’ll be braiding—the process of using one string over and under another in a crosswise pattern. There are many different ways to braid; here are a few tips for getting started:

First things first: You need two strings. It doesn’t matter what these strings are made out of (they can be yarn, metal or plastic), but they should be about the same length so that your finished braid will fit comfortably around your wrist.

Next up is finding an anchor point from which all other knots must begin; this will allow us to easily keep track of where each knot goes while we’re braiding. I like using my thumb or index finger as an anchor point because they’re right next to each other on my hand and easy for me not only figure out which direction each string should go but also where I am in relation to other people I’m working with.”

Step 4: Measure up

Next, measure the length of your wrist. Lay a ruler or measuring tape along your arm and measure from the base of your palm to where you want it to end. This can be pretty tricky if you don’t have an extra person around to help out, but if you do stop by a friend’s house before going home and ask them for help! They’ll probably think it’s really cute that you’re making friends bracelets with their brother/friend/cousin (whoever).

If you’re making bracelets with string from multiple people at once, then just take note of how long each person’s string is so that they all match up in length when finished.

Step 5: Know when to stop.

When you reach the end of your bracelet, stop. If you end up making the string too long, it’s really easy to shorten it—just pull on it until there is a little extra left. Tie this extra length into a knot and cut off any excess string with scissors (and save for another project!).

Now that you know how to put on friendship bracelets, get started!

Step 6: Tie off and finish.

Tie off and finish. Cut the string at least 6 inches longer than needed, so it can be knotted as shown above. Trim the excess string, but don’t use a lighter to melt the ends—the heat will soften the plastic and weaken it. The edge where you cut should now look like this:

To hold your bracelet in place while you’re working on another one, you might want to make a paper clip into a temporary “safety pin” by bending its ends 90 degrees outwards with pliers or needle-nose pliers:

Friendship bracelets are fun, easy and simple to make.

Making bracelets is one of the easiest and most fun crafts to do. Not only are they great to make yourself, but they can also be a unique way to show off your creativity, give a little gift to friends or family members, and/or even sell them if you’re feeling entrepreneurial (although this last option is probably not going to make you very much money).

Making friendship bracelets is easy: simply string beads onto some thread until you’ve got enough beads on there that it looks like a bracelet! You can use all different kinds of materials for making your bracelet—from plastic pony beads from the craft store, to wooden or glass beads from an art supply store. And if you don’t want just one color in there? It’s simple: just alternate between two different colors as often as possible when doing so!
