Step 1
The first step in this process is gathering the materials you’ll need to make your bracelet. You can use a variety of different components, so feel free to get creative here! If you’re not sure what kind of components would work best for your design, check out our list below:
- String or wire
- Beads and/or charms
With these items at hand, it’s time to think about how much material you’ll need for each component. The key here is being realistic about how big your project will be before starting on it; if you only have one piece of string but hope to create a very long bracelet with several strands, then there may be trouble ahead! It’s also important not to buy too much material (so as not waste money) or too little (so as not cause problems later). A good rule of thumb is anywhere from 1-5 yards per strand depending on how elaborate your design gets.
Step 2
In order to make a selection, it’s helpful to know what you want.
- Choose a design from the many available that includes beads in your favorite colors, string in your desired color and type of clasp. Many bracelets are adjustable so that you can change them up when needed. And don’t forget to decide on the size!
- Now, you can start creating!
Step 3
Now, you’ll use your string to measure the length of bracelet that you need. Loop the string around your wrist and tie it in a knot at the top. Then cut off any excess string.
Carefully un-knot the end of the string and attach it to another piece of tape by folding over one end and sticking it onto itself (see picture below). This will make a loop that can be used as an adjustable closure with no sewing required! Measure this length and record in inches, because we’ll need to know how long our cords should be when we’re cutting them later.
You have now completed your very own bracelet.
You have now completed your very own bracelet.
The steps are:
- Cut the leather strip into three pieces, each around 7 inches long (or whatever size you prefer).
- Tie a knot at one end of each piece, and then use a lighter to singe the ends so that they don’t fray when you sew them together later on.
- Place all three strips side by side, with their knots facing inwards towards each other like a clover leaf shape; run across the middle where you see two holes on either side of this intersection point. This will create four holes in total, two on each side of the middle point where all three pieces intersected together before being sewn shut again with your needle and thread combo!
