Introduction

I love beading. It’s a wonderful hobby that anyone can enjoy! Beading is easy to pick up, and there are few materials required for most projects, so it’s not too expensive or time-intensive either. In my blog post below, I’d like to introduce you to the best resources for getting started with beading, along with some fun projects so you can start right away.

Project #1: Seed Bead Necklace

This is a simple project that will teach you the basics of beading, like how to pick out your materials and knot the threads.

This first project requires:

  • A bead board (or other flat surface) to work on
  • Beading needles and thread (I prefer waxed cotton)
  • Crimp beads (optional)

Project #2: How to Make a Beaded Bracelet.

To start, you’ll need a beading loom. These are available in different configurations, but they all have the same basic design: two metal discs with holes evenly spaced in them. Using your needle and Nymo thread, weave your seed beads into the holes of one disc. When you reach the end of one disc and start weaving on another, slide this second disc down so that it rests on top of a previously woven row of beads. This creates an overlapping pattern that makes for a more polished look when completed. Once you have woven all of your seed beads onto both discs, remove them from the loom by sliding off each row from underneath using pliers (or other tools) until only one row remains threaded through both discs at once; then remove those final few rows used to attach clasps or jump rings to finish making your bracelet!

You can use any type or color combination for this project—we chose lighter colors so that it would match well with most outfits!

Project #3: How to Make a Beaded Keychain.

This is a simple but fun project that will have you making a beautiful keychain in no time.

Supplies:

  • beads of your choice (we are using Czech glass seed beads)
  • wire and jump rings to hang the beads on (we are using 14 gauge silver coated copper wire)
  • pliers, beading needle, or bead threader (for stringing your beads onto the wire)

Step by step instructions:

  • Cut 2 pieces of wire to desired length. You can cut it any way you like; however, we recommend keeping the length shorter than the width of your hand so that it fits comfortably on your wrist or neck. This way when someone grabs hold of it by mistake they won’t get an unpleasant surprise!
  • String enough beads on one end until there are 6-7 loops filled with seed beads on each side of where you want them hanging off (meaning filled completely with no gaps). To make sure there aren’t any gaps between rows we recommend doing this process at least twice so there will always be two filled rows even if one row was not fully covered before moving onto another row.* This method helps make sure all rows stay secure while still allowing room at top end for adding charms like heart charms or whatever else suits their fancy!

Beading is a great way to be creative and make beautiful things.

Beading is a great way to be creative, make beautiful things, and unwind.

It is also making a comeback as a person’s hobby and income source. This trend is no surprise when you consider what an easy way it is to make jewelry with beads!

Conclusion

Have fun trying these projects out, and while you’re at it, try developing your own designs as well.
