Remove the clutter!
The first step to improving feng shui is removing the clutter!
You don’t want to keep things you don’t use, donate things that you don’t need and aren’t going to use again. You shouldn’t hang onto stuff just in case it might be useful one day. And if something brings up negative emotions such as failure or disappointment, throw it away! After all, there are only two types of people: those who have thrown something away because they didn’t love it anymore and those who haven’t yet.
The key here is minimalism – having just what we need without anything extra taking up space (or our minds). Besides helping with feng shui, there are other benefits from keeping a tidy home too:
- You save money on storage fees by getting rid of unnecessary items that would otherwise sit around collecting dust;
- Your living space will look more spacious with less stuff around;
- You feel refreshed when entering an organized home as opposed to one filled with clutter and messes;
Position your bed for optimal feng shui.
Your bed should ideally be positioned so that you can see the door, but not have the bed directly in line with it. This way, you’re not blocked from moving freely out of your bedroom as well as blocking energy from entering (and potentially leaving) through the door.
You can position it with the headboard against a window, as long as it doesn’t block the window. This is because feng shui says that when we sleep in beds that are against windows we absorb too much yin energy (energy of darkness and cold). Instead, if you don’t mind having less light coming through at night then use this rule to your advantage by positioning most or all of your furniture facing away from windows—this way no one will be able to see inside!
Improve the feng shui in the bedroom with a plant.
If you’re hoping to improve your feng shui in the bedroom, place a plant on your nightstand. Plants in the bedroom are good for your health and mental state. They help you sleep better by absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen into it. They also absorb other pollutants in the air such as formaldehyde and benzene (which are found in paints and furniture). You can find plants that are suited to being inside all year round or plants that only need light during certain seasons of the year, so no matter what time of year it is, there will be something available for you!
Plants can be placed anywhere as long as there is enough light for them to grow — even if this means that one day they might go outside once summer arrives again! Just make sure not leave them out overnight because if temperatures drop below freezing then they may die! If a plant dies then simply replace it with another type; however don’t keep replacing them over time because eventually there won’t be much room left on top surfaces such as tables or shelves (unless those surfaces have been cleared).
Incorporate things in pairs, like a set of lamps or a pair of chairs.
The concept of pairing is one that is beautifully embodied in feng shui. When you pair things, such as two lamps or a pair of chairs, you’re creating balance, harmony and symmetry. You can also see this concept in art, like when there are two identical paintings on opposite walls of a room.
Aesthetically pleasing pairs are an example of yin and yang: complementary opposites that create balance and harmony together.
Mix and match textures and materials.
Mix and match textures and materials.
This is a key concept in feng shui, which states that you should always mix different textures and materials in the same room. For example, it’s best to have wood floors but then throw in some soft fabric furniture or rugs. This makes the room look more interesting and inviting than if everything was made of hard surface, like concrete or marble tiles on the floor with metal chairs or mirrors all around you.
Feng shui with mirrors.
Mirrors are one of the most common feng shui remedies, but they can also be one of the trickiest to use correctly.
- Mirrors can expand a space, so use them in areas of your home where you want to feel more open or add visual interest.
- Don’t place mirrors opposite each other at the entrance to a room or hallway, as this will lead to conflict between people who enter and leave through this area (you don’t want fights breaking out over who gets there first). Instead, try placing decorative artwork along these walls instead!
- Don’t place mirrors near your bed—it may cause you not to sleep well at night because it’s too much reflective energy in an overly sensual environment; better off placing something calming like an oil lamp on top instead! (Alternately: if it’s something that looks cool.)
- Avoid placing large mirrors directly above sinks or toilets; the water element will be disturbed by their presence and may cause clogged drains or even flooding! If possible keep them off on another wall entirely; otherwise go for smaller ones like jewelry boxes instead which don’t have any negative effects when placed next door but still give plenty enough light when needed during those late night bathroom breaks after watching Netflix all day long without eating anything else besides popcorn because we’re cheap like that sometimes hahaha jk no really we’re not haha…
Use neutral colors.
One of the best ways to improve your feng shui in the house is by using neutral colors. Neutral colors are calming and relaxing, making them great for rooms you want to be able to relax in. They can also make a room look bigger than it actually is because they don’t take up as much visual space on the walls or floor as bright or bolder colors do. Neutral colors are versatile too—you can easily add other pops of color without clashing with any existing pieces of furniture!
Neutral also means that you won’t have to worry about keeping up with trends as often—you can just stick with what works best for your space rather than worrying about how trendy everything needs to be!
Add items with rounded edges to your space.
You want to reduce the feeling of danger and aggression in your home. One way to do this is by adding items with rounded edges, such as furniture with rounded corners, mirrors and other objects. Avoid sharp corners if possible, as they can be aggressive and harsh.
Other shapes that will work well for feng shui include triangles and squares. In addition to using these shapes in your decorating scheme (such as on pillows or rugs), you can also use them in painting or wallpaper accents that create an inviting atmosphere for anyone who enters into the space. If there are any places where furniture items are too close together, then it could cause tension between those people who occupy these spaces regularly.
Decorate with candles and candles holders.
- Decorate with candles and candles holders. Candles add warmth to a room and make it feel cozy. They can also be used to create a romantic atmosphere and help you relax. The best way to use candles is to place them in holders so they don’t get knocked over, or worse, fall into your favorite potted plant!
Bring nature inside to improve feng shui.
Plants in your home can help you improve your feng shui, but they should be easy to maintain. You don’t want to spend all of your time keeping up with them. Here are some of the best plants that are easy to keep alive:
- Succulents (such as cacti)
- Aloe vera plants
- Spider plants
You will enjoy your home more if you know how to make it work better for you!
- Remove clutter
Clutter is the biggest sign of a cluttered space, and it can make you feel stressed and depressed. It’s also bad for feng shui because it blocks chi energy from flowing freely through the room, causing your energy to become stagnant. To remove clutter from your home, start with a purge: get rid of anything that doesn’t serve a purpose in your life anymore (if you don’t know if something serves a purpose, ask yourself if you’ve used it within the last year). Then organize what’s left so that everything has its own place and isn’t scattered around everywhere—this will help keep things fresh in your mind instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff lying around waiting for cleaning day!
- Position your bed
In feng shui terms, people who sleep on their sides are considered “water people,” while those who sleep on their backs or stomachs are “fire people.” If this sounds like you then try placing items associated with water near/underneath where most often sleep at night…such as plants filled with water or fish tanks placed directly across from where one would lie down too! Make sure nothing else hinders this placement though such as other furniture blocking access between beds (obviously not ideal!). On top of this specific advice though any tips regarding how best align our bodies with different elements can apply here as well – so if someone suffers from migraines due to lack oxygenation then having fresh air circulating above them might help alleviate symptoms somewhat too (another example would be using crystals near windowsills instead).
