Introduction

Take a deep breath, and exhale. Now focus on the present moment. Notice how the room feels, how you feel. Feel your body fill with warmth and your muscles relax. It’s OK to be in this space right now, even if you’re working too much or you’re stressed out by school. You are doing the best you can today, and that is enough. Raise your wrist to see this message again anytime throughout the day when you could use a reminder.”

On October 21, the 10/21 Bracelet is the perfect accessory to show your support not just for Down syndrome, but for all people with disabilities.

The 10/21 Bracelet is a great way to show that you care about the future of Down syndrome and its impact on our world today. It’s also a great conversation starter, so you can use this opportunity to spread awareness!

  • When you buy a 10/21 bracelet, you will be recognized for what you’re wearing—and you can use that moment to talk about Down syndrome!
  • You could say: “Hey, did you know that I have Down syndrome?” or “I’m wearing this because of my daughter.”
  • You can also talk about the bracelet itself and where it came from. NDSS has been around since 1979, and they work hard every day to improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through funding research, providing grants for programs and services, advocating on behalf of people with Down syndrome in policymaking at local, state and national levels, supporting family-to-family networking groups across the country (including our own!), providing educational materials for teachers and other professionals who work with people with DS…and so much more!

The 10/21 Bracelet is our signature piece of jewelry because it represents the special day that Down syndrome was discovered.

The 10/21 Bracelet is our signature piece of jewelry because it represents the special day that Down syndrome was discovered. On October 21, 1959, Dr. John Langdon Haydon Down gave his name to the chromosomal disorder that causes mental and physical disability in one out of every 691 babies born in the United States each year.

When you wear this bracelet, you’re letting people know that you support Down syndrome. You can talk about it with anyone who notices your bracelet: friends, family members and strangers alike!

Every purchase of a 10/21 Bracelet helps NDSS continue to fund research, advocate for federal legislation, and promote awareness and inclusion.

NDSS is a nonprofit organization that funds research, advocates for federal legislation and promotes awareness and inclusion. The 10/21 Bracelets are available at participating NDSS Affiliate Centers in the United States, as well as on its website. A portion of the proceeds from each bracelet sold goes directly to NDSS to fund its mission.

A $10 donation gets you an original 10/21 bracelet.

In addition to the bracelet, you can purchase a donation of your choice. For example, if you’re having a birthday and want to buy a gift for yourself, but also want to add a little bit of charitable goodness into the mix, consider purchasing one of our 10/21 bracelets for yourself and another one for someone else who might like it. That way, when you wear yours on your birthday (and every other day), you’ll know that every time someone asks where they can get one too they’ll be reminded of how awesome it is that two people purchased bracelets at once!

We’re not saying this all out loud right now because we don’t want anyone getting crazy ideas about how often they should buy one. We just wanted to let everyone know about the opportunity in case anyone was wondering if there were any other options available aside from buying an entire box full at once or just giving us $1 per month forever (because those are both fine too).
